Linamar Corporation's Skyjack division has officially brought its new hybrid-electric and battery-electric rough terrain articulating booms to the North American market. Rental companies and contractors can rely on the all-electric zero-emission productivity of the new SJ45 AJE+ and SJ60 AJE+ and the hybrid-electric flexibility of the new SJ45 AJHE+ and the SJ60 AJHE+. Skyjack has designed these versatile new machines to meet job site performance expectations, whether it be navigating various rough terrain conditions or delivering performance in emission-restricted sensitive indoor worksites.
Skyjack's new articulating booms have been developed without compromising performance or features found in diesel machines. The range has common specifications, parts, capacities, reach, and dimensions across all-electric, hybrid-electric, and diesel options, allowing rental companies to choose preferred power within a single machine.
The new articulating booms feature AXLDRIVE, a mechanical four-wheel drive system with an oscillating steer axle and manually controlled rear locking differential for superior traction and up to 45 percent gradeability. This terrain capability means an operator can use Skyjack boom lifts in some of the most challenging of conditions.
EASYDRIVE is an intuitive direction sensing function that allows the machine to move in the general direction of the joystick's movement, where forwards is forwards and backwards is backwards. There is no need to coordinate coloured directional arrows on the base of the machine. SKYRISER technology ensures that the riser and main pivot point connecting the fly boom to the riser travel in a straight vertical line. Movement in a true vertical manner, without drifting forward or back, reduces the amount of repositioning the operator needs to do in order to stay close to a building facade, improving productivity. The SJ60 AJE+ and SJ60 AJHE+ also feature SPEEDYREACH, which provides the ability to cycle between maximum height and ground level without the need to engage the riser function which helps to save the operator time.
Electrical controllers integrate into Skyjack's existing SkyCoded control system, maintaining commonality and ease of troubleshooting. Customers can stay connected with machine performance using the ELEVATE Live scanning QR code for easy access to serial number-specific information and service data using any smartphone (no app or password required).
Skyjack's new battery-electric and hybrid-electric articulating booms provide simple driver performance while also maintaining capacities up to 1,000 lbs (454 kg). Machine operating efficiency allows for multiple days of work out of a single charge, while bulk-charging on hybrid machines can be completed in less than 3 hours. These new machines are ideal for job sites requiring the flexibility to operate in almost any condition.
"The Skyjack team designs our innovative articulating booms to maximize uptime and longevity. Our new machines feature easy-to-understand control systems, with an on-board digital diagnostics display that allows operators to see real-time, simple language readouts. No plug-in calibration is necessary for day-to-day troubleshooting, all major service points are easily accessible, and common parts across our boom range make for straightforward maintenance and repairs," highlights Jonathan Reinhart, Skyjack's product manager. "Skyjack booms are renowned for a superior driving experience, a consistent, multi-function capability, and machine reliability."
